DINING ROOM
MURAL ROOM
The MURAL ROOM is especially designed for formal dining. It has a small mahogany table, measured eleven and one half feet long. It is wide enough to seat a person at each end so that the dining table could now accommodate up to sixteen people. With a more comfortable spacing, fourteen would be easy.
The setting with Dave’s original chandelier and the awe-inspiring wallpaper was warm and lovely.
The wallpaper is the star. Zuber, a French wallpaper company, made it. Zuber has been making wallpaper since 1797. It is reputed that Zuber’s, “Guerre D ’Independence,” (The War of Independence) was the most expensive wallpaper ever created.
In recent history, several Presidents redesigned The Diplomatic Reception Room in the White House. In the 1940’s by President Harry Truman; in the early 1950’s by President Dwight Eisenhower; and then by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1962. Ms. Kennedy selected antique scenic wallpaper named, “Scenes of North America,” manufactured by the same firm, Zuber et cie in Rixheim, France. She chose it because of its beauty and the historical scenes it illustrated. Those were scenes of Boston Harbor, The Natural Bridge in Virginia, West Point, Niagara Fall, and New York Harbor. The sweeping panorama on the elliptical walls of the White House provides a sense of space negating the lack of windows.
This is the same wallpaper you see in our formal dining room.
The room is a constant reminder of Dave’s imprint on The Inn at Dresden.
We are also offering for executive conferences, ideal for quiet, productive business meetings, intimate group of 10-15 people. This room is surrounded by a beautiful hand painted mural. It has large window to enhance your meeting with natural light.
